2005 Franchise of the Year

History:
Attracted by an advertisement in the classified section of the newspaper with the message, "Franchises in Wal-Mart, call 1-800-234-1040", Carl and Carrie Kelley began their business venture with Jackson Hewitt in tax season 1996 with a simple plan to run a business to produce just enough income to pay the overhead expenses for an office where they could conduct bookkeeping for their franchised restaurant. However, Carrie with a background in taxes and Carl in law enforcement, they soon became deeply involved in Jackson Hewitt and embarked upon an incredible growth story since they started with 2 offices and 498 returns.

Accomplishments:
C K Ventures is lead by a talented team consisting of Terri L. Cantrell, General Manager; Cathy Fielder, Office Administrator; Gena Peters, CPA; Keri Morgan, Assistant General Manager; Kelli Wicks, Client Service Manager; Vincent Rivera, Computer Technician; Fallon Kelley of Northern Oklahoma, Lee Harrell of Southern Oklahoma, Lori Pace of Missouri, Kimberly McCarty of Ft. Walton Beach Florida Region, Darlene Walker of Panama City Florida Region, Angela Dowdy of Fort Smith Arkansas Region, & Tim Ford of Fayetteville Arkansas Region, Area Managers and retired Colonel Cornelius McGillcuddy who has been with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in the Fort Walton Beach area since 1992. Together they operate 44 storefronts and 38 retails within 27 territories, located in four states.

Additionally, their Muskogee, OK storefront, with a population of 45,000, has an 83% customer retention and holds the #3 slot in returns nationally. The Fort Walton Beach, FL Wal-Mart is also ranked #3 in returns in the nation.

Community Involvement:
C K Ventures, Inc. sponsors a number of athletic sports programs and the Regional FFA Livestock Show. Carl Kelley is a member of the Muskogee Chapter of The National Exchange Club which sponsors the largest event in the area annually with a Chili & Barbeque Cook Off that generates $50,000 to $75,000 for the prevention of child abuse. C K Ventures, Inc. also provides approximately 4,000 free tax returns to high school graduating seniors every year.
